About

Our Mission

Our mission is to work directly with the community to ensure the best environmental outcomes for the ACT through targeted education, information and practical application. We recognise that a healthy and vibrant community is much more able to take care of itself and its environment than a fragmented one. Our projects support the community to nourish itself and the environment together, and to sustain themselves into the future.

We are supported by the ACT Environment and Planning Directorate.

Booking The Centre

The Canberra Environment Centre is nestled between the shore of Lake Burley Griffin and the Acton Community Garden. Our facilities include a large meeting room and library, smaller meeting room, fully- equipped kitchen and bathroom. We are on the scenic lake bike path, close to two bus stops and have off-street parking.

Rooms are air-conditioned, and we can provide a data projector and white-board on request. Doors are electronic and controlled remotely, so there is no need to worry about keys.

Rooms can be booked free of charge for member group meetings, subject to availability.  See how to be a member here.  Other arrangements may be made by negotiation.  Call (02) 6248 0885 to find out more.
