Recyclery Update - August
The beautiful view on our ride
This month at The Recyclery was a crackin’ time for our community!
We had DJ Paul laying down tuuuunes at our first Saturday of the month BBQ — which, for the record, was very well-attended.
In the words of our mechanic, Murray, we also had a bangin’ social ride. The turnout was incredible — we had 16 of the loveliest people come along to join us.
The social ride was at Mulligan’s Flat, and the weather was beautiful. Lovely, sunny and warm, our whole squad had a great time rolling around the champagne gravel.
At the beginning of the ride, one of our members unfortunately suffered a snapped chain! Luckily, Dan, one of our board members, was carrying a handy tool on the ride.
Our next social ride will be around a portion of the lake and through the single track at the Arboretum. This ride will start later in the day, so that we will finish off with a sweet bev and pizza at Dissent.
If you have suggestions for future rides, please send them to hello@canberraenvironment.org !! All of the rides we do are inspired and suggested by the members of our community.
Bike Kitchen has been super packed! So if you’re planning on attending, make sure you get in on time to secure a stand inside. But don’t worry, our outside stands are just as capable and groooovy.
This month, our mechanic Duncan started our beginner bike course. So far, with one session down, the course has been stellar. We have also been fortunate to have some of our volunteers assist Duncan — WE <3 OUR VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY!
As we write this update, The Recyclery would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the cyclist who lost their life this week. We also extend our thoughts to those who sustained injuries in the accident, as well as all others who may be affected.
See you next month
