Official opening of new bike

The Recyclery Community Bike Repair Shed officially opened on Saturday – and what a glorious morning it was!

It’s been amazing to see the level of community support for this project, with more than $60,000 donated over the past two years by individuals and local businesses to help bring this vision to life. The Recyclery will now serve as a hub for donated bikes to be refurbished by our fantastic team of mechanics and volunteers – then made available for sale at accessible prices. The goal? To keep bikes on the road and out of landfill, while encouraging practical climate action through cycling and repair culture.

We reckon this is a win-win for people and the planet!

Big thanks to the CEC team, the volunteers, dedicated Committee members and to all the brilliant sponsors and supporters who’ve been part of this journey. Special mention also to Dan Watters who took some of the great photos at the opening event.

If you haven’t visited the new space yet, swing by Gungaderra Homestead (a short walk from the Mapleton Ave tram stop) and check it out Tuesdays to Thursdays from 1-3pm.

Hope you’re keeping cozy and enjoying the turn of the seasons as much as we are.
