Garden Update — August

Despite no regular catch-ups in the garden this month, we’re still always heading down to check on the greenhouse seedlings and see what’s going on. We’re very excited to get back into it! Our first Saturday Garden Drop-In Session is on the 1st of August. Bring your friends, learn from our knowledgeable community gardeners, and take home some local organic produce.

The plan for our first Saturday drop-in is to refresh the beds with compost, plant out seedlings from the greenhouse, and get another lot of seedlings brewing. We’re even thinking of planting some VERY early tomato seeds... Have we gone rogue? The greenhouse has been pretty toasty!

Our everlasting daisy seedlings from late summer are finally blooming, which is such a silver lining to these frosty mornings. Our garlic has seen better days, but our snow peas are flowering. We’re hoping the compost refresh gives our beds the little boost they need for spring production.

If you’re using our compost bins at the garden, remember to add a handful of leaves after you put your food scraps in. Our wonderful leaf teapot is ready for use. We’ll be back to regular Thursday Garden Drop-In Sessions, with at least one Saturday session each month, so keep an eye out.

We can’t wait to see you in the garden!
