  • Jerrabomberra Wetlands Cnr Blueberry Street and Eyre St Kingston, ACT, 2604 Australia (map)

Ever wondered why insects are attracted to light? Or what is a light trap exactly? Come along to learn the answers to these questions, and more!

Originally from Melbourne, Ying Luo is a PhD candidate based at the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) at CSIRO; and she is also affiliated with the Australian National University (ANU). Whilst her PhD focuses on understanding the diversity and ecology of a group of leaf-mining moths in Australia, Ying is interested in all aspects of Australian flora and fauna. She enjoys encouraging others to learn more about their local biodiversity, and is the main organiser and creator of the “Walks and Talks” series. She can often be found exploring Canberra on her bike, often with her binoculars and camera in her panniers.

You can find out more about her research on her blog, Instagram and Twitter.
