Brewing Kombucha

  • Canberra Environment Centre Cnr Lennox Crossing and Lawson Crescent Acton (map)

Have you got a taste for the tangy drink kombucha and want to learn more? Healthy, fun, simple and inexpensive to make, a batch of home-brewed kombucha is a fantastic way to introduce beneficial gut bacteria to your body.
Join Jane McIntyre, a nutritionist with a keen interest in the role of nutrition in the development of chronic disease, for an evening of discussing all things kombucha.
Jane is an expert on gut health, and a portion of the workshop will be devoted to exploring the interactions between probiotics, lacto fermentation and a healthy gut.

This workshop includes samples and a starter kombucha culture (aka SCOBY). Please bring along a jar of sweet cold tea, brewed according to these instructions:

·         500ml water

·         1/4 cup sugar (white or raw is fine)

·         1/2 tbs loose leaf black, green or white tea (as long as there are no flavours or oils) or 2 teabags

Boil water, add to a non-metallic bowl or jug and add sugar and tea. Stir until sugar is dissolved and let steep until room temperature. Bring the tea along to the workshop in a lidded jar or container. Note, you can make smaller quantities of sweet tea using the same ratio.

Refund Policy: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to other workshops.

Accessibility: the Canberra Environment Centre has an accessibility ramp and spacious indoor area. The CEC has two regular sized toilet cubicles. For all accessibility enquiries please contact us 6248 0885 sustainability@canberraenvironment.com
