We love our gardens in Canberra, but as many gardeners know, it’s not always easy. No one enjoys nursing gardens through hot dry summers, having trees and shrubs shredded in sudden hailstorms, or washed away with harsh downpours.

With a future that is looking dryer, hotter and with less predictable rainfall, how can you make sure that your garden continues to be a place of joy and a refuge for biodiversity?

The good news is that there is plenty you can do, both to safeguard your garden against future climate change, and to make sure that your gardening is helping to reduce your carbon footprint.

Climate resilient gardens can be beautiful, and can save time, water and money along the way. Local garden designer and educator Cally Brennan from Canberra Permaculture Design and Education will be presenting the workshop, covering a range of topics including stormwater harvesting, selecting plants that are less likely to burn in bushfire, and creating a floral haven for endangered insects.
